75STE DANILITH NOKERE KOERSE

WOENSDAG 17 MAART 2021

Impressive Lotte Kopecky

A resilient Lotte Kopecky put the 4th Danilith Nokere Koerse on her record. The SD Worx rider broke away from everything and everyone in the final, no one was equal to the power development of our compatriot. No doubt an emotional victory for Kopecky.

Going on the attack early on
Kopecky went on the attack early on the Tiegemberg. She was joined by Henderson (Jumbo - Visma) and Van Anrooij (Trek - Segafredo), but they were soon caught. Just under 50km from the finish, she took off again. Henderson was with them again, but struggled to keep up with Kopecky's scorching pace on Nokereberg.

Trek - Segafredo led the chase in the service of Elisa Balsamo. They closed the gap on Kopecky and Henderson.

SD Worx took complete control of the race afterwards and made the race very hard. Even European champion Lorena Wiebes made a contribution.

As a result, around 30 riders went into the final lap.

Kopecky supreme
Frenchwoman Biannic (Movistar) tried to surprise and went on the attack. She got a maximum bonus of 20 seconds. And then Kopecky's moment arrived. The Belgian pride went for a third time with an impressive demmarage on the Lange Ast. Only Gasparrini could follow her scorching pace and together they rode the gap to Biannic.

Kopecky was far too strong in the end. On the Huisepont road, she accelerated again and left her fellow breakaway riders behind at 6 km from the finish line. She eventually finished solo and thus scored a stunning victory on the cobbles of Nokereberg.

Her teammate Wiebes easily won the sprint for 2nd place, Bastianelli came 3rd. The entire top 10 looked impressive. What a race!
