Danilith Nokere Koerse for Women Elite live on TV!
Danilith Nokere Koerse is showing off a new scoop. For the first time, the women's race will be broadcast live on TV.
Previously, there was already an extensive summary to be seen after the men's race. Chairman Robrecht Bothuyne: "Now Sporza on Canvas, RTBF and Eurosport will broadcast the women's race live. The final of the race, the podium ceremony and the flash interviews after the race, the viewer will not have to miss a thing. We are happy and proud with this new step forward. An additional investment to give women's cycling a bigger platform; good for the riders, for the teams and their sponsors.'
The men's race will be broadcast, as before, from 15h30 via Sporza on EEN, RTBF and Eurosport. The women's race starts at 10:15 am in Deinze and arrives a little after 1:30 pm on the famous cobblestones of Nokereberg. After the 3 WorldTour races in Flanders, Danilith Nokere Koerse is the most important Flemish women's race on the UCI calendar, in the UCI ProSeries, the same category as the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
Danilith Nokere Koerse for women was already in the news recently. The organizers are increasing the prize money to the level of the men. With a prize pool of 20,500 euros, it is the one-day race with the highest prize money in the world in women's cycling. Managing Director Rony De Sloovere: 'With a three-stage rocket, we want to grow into the Women's World Tour with our race. Earlier we already increased the starting fees; this year we are increasing the prize money to the level of the men and we will provide a live TV broadcast. In this way we hope to convince the UCI of our candidacy.'
Race director Gil Steyvers: "We already received applications from 13 of the 14 Women's World Teams. Only the team of outgoing winner Amy Pieters and Belgium's best rider Lotte Kopecky, SD Worx, is missing from the list for now. To our surprise, to be honest. Such a prize pool and a live broadcast, that is found in few other races. We hope that eventually all teams will appreciate our financial efforts and come to the start with their best riders ...' .
And there will be more news about Danilith Nokere Koerse. The organizers will soon present a new track.
